About the Artist
Christine Lorenz uses the tools of macro photography to create spaces for reflection on the common materials of our lived environment. She holds an MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and BA from The Ohio State University. She has exhibited in galleries and unconventional spaces in the Pittsburgh region and beyond. Her work has been featured online by Lenscratch, Vice, Review Santa Fe, Photolucida, Refract Journal, Rogue Agent Journal, and Fraction Magazine. Collections include the Community College of Allegheny County and the Tomayko Foundation. In 2025 she was a Gilbert Fellow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. In addition to self-publishing photobooks and zines, she has produced collaborative book projects for The Earth Of workshops of Arts Letters & Numbers. She is a founding member of the Flock Artist Collective, celebrating the intertwined work of artmaking and parenting. She teaches the history of photography and art writing at Duquesne University and Point Park University.
Christine’s work builds on places where different forms of knowledge intersect. Her photographs build visual spaces out of close attention to everyday things, creating opportunities for new perspectives on our connections to the world. She also brings a background in literature, education, and the history of photography to collaborative writing and publication projects.

“As an artist, the projects that involved external input have energized my practice, made me more open to possibilities, and led me to creative strategies I would not have found on my own.”
