Office of Public Art Announces Online Program Schedule for Summer 2021

Digital live stream conversations to continue, June through August

Pittsburgh, PA – The Office of Public Art (OPA) announces its lineup of online programs to be held via Instagram Live throughout the summer of 2021. Each live session will air Tuesdays from 12:00 – 12:30 PM and be saved to OPA’s IGTV for additional viewing.

About OPA Live!

OPA Live!, the Instagram series in which artists take over the OPA Instagram account to host a live conversation with a peer from outside of Pittsburgh, will continue. For this season the roster of hosts and guests will focus on artists and individuals who are directly addressing environmental issues. This season of OPA Live! will showcase the work of organizations that are participating in OPA’s Environment, Health and Public Art Initiative and their colleagues. The series will provide a perspective from the organization’s point of view as to how they are addressing air and water quality, and material waste. In addition to organizations, guest hosts will include long-time environmental artists from the Pittsburgh area.

As Pittsburgh begins to once again host in-person activities, OPA will continue the online series to engage a broad audience and introduce viewers from across the country to the work of Pittsburgh-based organizations and artists and their peers located elsewhere.

“The OPA Live! program was originally funded by a pop-up grant from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council to address the impacts of COVID-19 on the arts, and we found the program has been incredibly successful,” said Sallyann Kluz, Director of the Office of Public Art. “Online programming will continue to have a strong role in OPA’s offerings even as we begin to move forward with in-person programming in the coming months. It expands the range of engagement that we offer and connects Pittsburgh-based artists and cultural producers to national conversations.”
