About the Artist

Yafa NegreteYafa Negrete is a multidisciplinary visual artist, graphic designer, and educator from Mexico City, based in Pittsburgh. Her work focuses on black pastel and pencil portraiture, exploring gesture, mood, and emotional presence, alongside watercolor and mixed media. She is a juried member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (2026–) and holds an MA from Chatham University.

With over fifteen years of experience, she has created branding and visual communications for universities and nonprofits in Mexico and the U.S. She has also taught art, emphasizing creative independence. Her work has been exhibited regionally and in public art initiatives, earning recognition in the Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh exhibition series.
