About the Artist
Teresa Audet is an artist and educator based in Wilkinsburg and originally from Minnesota. She holds a BFA in Furniture Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (2011) and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2023). Working primarily with woven rattan, carved wood, and cast paper pulp, Audet creates sculptures that explore the themes of play, resilience, and the balance between vulnerability and strength. Audet uses craft practices to cultivate mindfulness, resulting in objects which are physical representations of care as well as a communication between the interior and exterior self. Individual strands of reed are twisted and woven together with thousands of tiny repetitive motions to create larger structures, just as wood is carved and constructed into solid support systems. Audet teaches art to students of all ages and is represented by Chaos Contemporary Craft in Columbus, OH, and the Museum for Art in Wood in Philadelphia, PA.
