About the Artist

Emily ArmstrongEmily Paige Armstrong (she/they) is a Pittsburgh based multimedia artist, educator, and activist. Emily Paige mainly focuses their work in 2-dimensional mixed media and digital art which vary in scale & style, with a goal of bringing awareness & empowerment around the intersections of community, queerness & various social movements uplifting society in order to make the world a brighter, more inclusive & overall better place. They use a wide variety of mixed media but heavily rely on ink, acrylic paint, and digital art with a juxtaposition of intricate directional lines & bold colors to represent the subject of each piece. Their process consists of three phases which can be best described as the planning/research phase, the design phase and the creation phase which can take place privately in their studio or live in a natural or public setting.

They are involved within the Pittsburgh Arts Community, as a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, and Red Fishbowl Studios, a grassroots gallery based in Lawrenceville. They are an educator & coordinator of multiple programs within the Pittsburgh arts community and they have exhibited work with a number of galleries and collectives on the east coast including McDonough Museum of Art in Youngstown, and the Carnegie Museum of Art & Natural History.
