About the Artist
Amanda Witucki, working under the moniker The Paper Committee, is a self-taught paper sculpture and upcycled plastic artist that works out of her studio in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh. She has been an active, exhibiting artist since 2019 with work featured in exhibitions throughout the country, most notably at the San Diego Museum of Art in 2023 and the Austin-Bergstrom Airport in 2024.
She creates process-intensive intricate installations that are marked by bright colors and abundant texture. She pulls from themes of memory, dreams, and nostalgia to create her palette. Utilizing principles of origami, pleating, and sewing, her work is always dimensional and plays heavily with light and shadow. Sustainability is a large part of her art practice, and she regularly incorporates single-use plastics and upcycled paper trash into her creations.
