Field Sessions 2024

Join Shiftworks Community + Public Arts for Field Sessions, an artist information session and social mixer.This annual event brings together artists and creatives from various sectors who are interested in working in the public realm and is open to artists across all disciplines, especially those with limited or no prior experience in public art

The evening will be hosted by Emerald City, a co-working space that prioritizes Black entrepreneurship and Black professionals in Pittsburgh through resources, education, and opportunities. During the event, attendees will discover how both organizations support independent professionals and will learn about ways to get involved in the public realm.

Refreshments will be provided.

Access & Accommodations

This event will be held indoors at Emerald City, located on the second floor of 213 Smithfield Street, Pittsburgh, 15222. There is paid public parking in several nearby garages. The location is also served by public transit (see “Parking and Transportation”).

The offices are accessed by a push-button door opener and an elevator to the second floor. Facilities include multi-stall single-gender ADA compliant restrooms.

Please note that masks are not required for attending in-person events but will be made available upon request. We ask that all attendees respect the health and safety of others; if you are sick, please stay home.

To request additional accommodations for this event, please submit your request in writing on the event registration form. A Shiftworks staff member will follow up with you directly about your request. We will attempt to implement requests for reasonable accommodations to the best of our ability, but cannot guarantee that all requests will be met. Alternate accommodations may be suggested by staff. Paid parking is available in several nearby garages. The two closest garages are:
Wood -Allies Garage located on Boulevard of the Allies across from Point Park University; and Mellon Square Garage located on Smithfield Street across from the Omni William Penn Hotel. If taking public transportation, there are several nearby stops in the vicinity. There is one at Boulevard of the Allies and Cherry Way FS that serves routes 52L, 53L, 56, 57, and 58; there is another stop at Smithfield Street and Third Avenue that serves routes 39, 40, 41, 43, 44, and 48.
