About

UPMC is seeking works of video art or video that presents art, culture, and history of the Pittsburgh region to be accessed on the screens in patient rooms in the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Tower at UPMC Presbyterian. The Art Channel is one of many features on the screens in the patient rooms. The intention of this innovative channel is to provide patients with an option to experience contemplative and restorative creative content during their hospital stay.

The patient rooms are designed to be places for healing and respite. In this space, patient choice is of utmost importance. The digital screen in each room provides access to television, games, and streaming services. The Art Channel is an option for patients who are interested in experiencing contemplative and restorative creative content. It is also an opportunity for patients to feel connected to the arts, culture, and history of the Pittsburgh region. This channel will be available to patients twenty-four hours a day. The video content will be presented on a set schedule.

There are several types of video content that can be submitted for review:

  • Works of video art. These may have sound or be silent.
  • Films or documentaries by artists who have a connection to the Pittsburgh region.
  • Video content generated by arts, culture, and history organizations in the Pittsburgh region.

Artists, organizations, and other entities who are interested in this opportunity should consider submitting works that are appropriate for all audiences. UPMC will welcome diverse patients from all over the region, country, and world to this facility.

Those selected to loan their content to UPMC for the Art Channel will receive an honorarium between $500- $1,500 per video. Applicants may have more than one video selected. Videos selected for the Art Channel will be presented starting in January 2027 for at least five years.
