Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Murals, 2022. Ink. 325 sq ft. Commissioned by Landesberg Design for two freehand murals at the Food Bank.
Gradient, 2019. Vintage lithographed tin on salvaged glass-cutting table. 54″ x 36″.
Makeshop at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, 2016. Paper, ink, found materials, collage, screenprinting. Worked with the museum to design the overall visual language for the Makeshop.
South Side HS AP Art/History Tin Mural Residency, 2016. Recycled aluminum and tin on wood. 8′ x 8′. Month-long project with students to conceive the project, design, and build based on their combined curricula for art and history.
About the Artist
For the past fifteen years, my work has focused on organic themes such as birds, bees, farm machinery, and the simple trappings of home and one’s place. I pay tribute to life’s simple offerings of beauty that exist all around us in such abundance that they can easily be overlooked.
I am as drawn to the laborious aspect of creativity as I am to its unpredictable outcomes. I gain almost as much from the process of cutting apart tins and sourcing the wood as I do from the assemblage of the art itself. My inspiration is formed by my surroundings, by my life in a city that exists in the midst of both decay and rebirth, set against the dramatic beauty and constant change of the Pennsylvania landscape.
