About the Artist
Juliet Phillips (b. 1990, Brooklyn, NY) lives in Pittsburgh, PA as a teaching and visual artist working in painting, drawing, animation, papermaking and ceramics to explore a fantastical world hidden in plain sight. Her work investigates myth, memory and family lore through forms, figures and stories that fit together in a curious dream-logic. She collects “junk”, which comes her way through consumption or fate, informing both her artwork and workshops– embracing the idea of material reuse. She received a BFA in painting from Boston University and her work has been exhibited at Planthouse Gallery, 80WSE Gallery and Rogue Space in NYC and at Bottom Feeder Books and Pullproof Studio in Pittsburgh, PA. She has taught artmaking at institutions such as Dieu Donné, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and The W.O.W. Project, where she was most recently a CRNY teaching artist fellow. She maintains a studio practice at Radiant Hall in Lawrenceville.
