SUMMARY:Artist Information Session: Mural at Citizens Live at The Wylie
DESCRIPTION:Shiftworks is hosting an in-person artist information session for those interested in applying for the mural opportunity with Citizens Live at The Wylie\, Pittsburgh’s newest music venue located in the Lower Hill. During this session\, Shiftworks staff will go over the application process and answer any questions artists may have regarding the project or process. \nAbout the Opportunity\nShiftworks Community + Public Arts has been hired by Live Nation to manage artist selection and implementation of a new mural for Citizens Live at The Wylie. A joint venture of Fenway Sports Group and Live Nation\, the 4\,000 capacity venue is named in tribute to Wylie Avenue\, a historic center for music and nightlife in the Hill District. The new facility is scheduled to open in the latter half of 2026. \nAbout Live Nation\nCitizens Live at The Wylie is operated by Live Nation. DESCRIPTION:Join the Office for Public Art for Field Session\, an information session to introduce artists to OPA and how the organization can help them navigate the public art landscape. This info session will explore the various ways in which artists may work in the public realm\, highlighting the programs and resources that OPA offers to artists. Artists will also be introduced to the Pittsburgh Creative Corps as a potential entry point for gaining opportunities in the public realm. \nField Session is open to artists across all disciplines who are interested in working in the public realm\, especially those who may have limited to no prior experience. This information session is free to attend. Refreshments will be provided. \nAbout Nafasi on Centre\nNafasi on Centre is a community development initiative utilizing art as a vehicle for community development and cultural preservation. Nafasi\, which means “space” and “opportunity” in Swahili\, is the first substantial project to emerge from the Hill District Arts Plan and is a cultural strategy to meet the 5 goals of the Greater Hill District’s Master Plan which aims to: (1) Build Upon the African American Cultural Legacy\, (2) Family Friendly Housing Development Without Displacement\, (3) Economic Empowerment & Community Development\, (4) Make the Hill a Green and Well-Designed Community\, and (5) Mobility\, Transportation\, and Parking. \nNafasi on Centre provides a central location for artists to live\, create\, and commune for the benefit of their creative practice and enterprise\, and for the benefit of the Hill District community. \nResidency participants access professional\, technical\, and creative skills development\, as well as community building from within the cohort.
