Summary

Shiftworks Community + Public Arts has been hired by Live Nation to manage artist selection and implementation of a new mural for Citizens Live at The Wylie. A joint venture of Fenway Sports Group and Live Nation, the 4,000-capacity venue is named in tribute to Wylie Avenue, a historic center for music and nightlife in the Hill District. The new facility is scheduled to open in the latter half of 2026.

Located at Logan Street and Wylie Avenue, the mural will span approximately 1,800 sq. ft. on a corner section of the venue’s south and east walls, measuring 20 ft. 2 in. high, with the south wall 50 ft. long and the east wall 38 ft. 4 in. long.

This opportunity is not limited to painters.

Eligibility

This opportunity is available to members of the Pittsburgh Creative Corps as well as all artists living and working in southwestern Pennsylvania, which includes residents of the following 13 counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango, Washington, and Westmoreland. Artists may apply as an individual or as a team. If applying as a team, the team must be led by a visual artist and the roles of any non-visual artists should be defined in the application.

Selection Process

Qualifications submitted through this RFQ will be reviewed by a selection panel consisting of project stakeholders, arts professionals, and community representatives. The selection panel will identify up to three (3) applicants to interview for the project, with interviews held the week of December 15, 2025. If selected for an interview, artists will be asked to prepare a short presentation about their past work, followed by a question and answer session with the panel. Artists who are asked to interview will not be asked to develop a proposal.

From the interviews, one artist or artist team will be selected for the opportunity.

Shiftworks may check references to assist in the evaluation of the applicants’ qualifications, should they advance to the interview stage.
